Custom Modern Dining Table

We jumped on the opportunity to build a custom modern dining table for one of our favourite architectural firms in the city, Open Space Architecture. The dining table's slatted base base took some technical problem solving from our woodworking team. We wanted to be sure the table had the perfect amount of balance and beauty. In the end, the solid walnut dining table far surpassed or client's expectations.

Custom Wood Side Table

These custom wood side tables are made from solid oak and finished by hand in our oxidized finish. Our clients came to us wanting to invest in quality furniture that would far outlast most bedroom furniture available from big box stores. Going custom also allowed them to have side tables made to their exact specifications; including size, finish, and function.

Office Furniture for Capital Events

We designed and built custom made office furniture for Capital Events to match their modern aesthetic.

The company's reception desk features a geometrically-cut piece of natural walnut with the logo laser cut into the grain. Opposite from reception is a wall unit that reflects the desk's geometric shape. This display unit is supported by a matte black powder-coated metal frame. To incorporate the warmth of wood further into the overall space, we built a custom-designed coffee table that can now be found in our office furniture collection, the Axis Round Coffee Table.

IDS Vancouver Furniture Booth

Interior Design Show (IDS) Vancouver is the yearly design expo for Western Canada. It's the place for makers and companies to showcase their expertise and creativity.

For the 2019 show, we wanted to make a lasting impression with the Union Wood Co booth to celebrate 10 years in business!

The booth was constructed by our talented team of woodworkers and designed in partnership with Alyssa from Studio Block. In Alyssa's words:

“Surrounded by wood in every stage of the making process from logs to offcuts to finished pieces, this installation is an interpretation of the Union Wood Co experience. The archway mimics the shape of the company’s Column Table and invites you to interact with it through touch and play, encapsulating the viewer in the scent of wood and comforting natural tones. From concept to execution this space is a visual expression of what makes Union Wood Co unique and a wonderful company to work with.”

Live Edge Boardroom Table

Live edge boardroom tables are a fine way to bring the essence of the outdoors into a space.

This custom made boardroom table features a 14' live edge fir slab atop a white steel base, and features a built-in power strip. Our team delivered and installed this beauty in a downtown Vancouver office building.

Custom Conference Room Table for SSDG

This custom conference room table was specially made for Vancouver-based design firm SSDG.

This was a fun project for our production team to build because it was the first table they'd constructed with a tripod base. To achieve the look and stability, we manufactured a custom metal bracket to hold the legs in place. Another special touch with this table is the natural oak top with a beveled edge and round corners.

SSDG loved the table and working with us so much that we were given a customer service reward from them! Read all about that in our rockstar blog post.

Custom Office Desks for Me&Ideas

Creative agency Me&Ideas requested custom office desks to match the modern industrial building they'd recently moved into. We pulled elements from the office space to design workstations that look as great as they function.

The desk's worktop is constructed from durable darkened steel. The white base has an inset whitewashed oak stripe running through the center. Power boxes with matching whitewashed oak lids are integrated into the design, keeping the look streamlined and the work productive.

Customized Radius Conference Table

Custom made conference room tables are one of our specialties.

Not only do we build conference tables to suit your specifications, but we also design our own conference tables that may be used as a jumping off point for your customization.

Case in point: Our Radius Conference Table is a popular design for modern offices, originally built with an oval-shaped base. We then created a round table for smaller spaces.

The Radius Conference Table shown here was modified for a client to have square pedestals on either end with a stretcher connecting them. The custom made conference table's base was wrapped in blackened ash tambour and topped with a solid natural walnut tabletop. The design included a built-in power and data ports. No problemo!

Ping Pong Table for Ordinary Folk

We built the crew at Ordinary Folk in Vancouver a custom ping pong table based upon The Break Ping Pong Table from our games table collection.

They opted for a high-quality plywood tabletop instead of one of our solid North American hardwoods to match their modern office space, which features plywood-topped desks and shelves.

Ordinary Folk's office space was designed to encourage collaboration and have a relaxed feel. Having a ping pong table in the middle of it all is the perfect way to relax and form bonds!

Alpine Cabin Millwork & Furniture

The Alpine Cabin was a really fun project for us because of the cross section of custom millwork and furniture that we built for it.

The kitchen’s shaker style cabinetry and island were designed and built by Union Wood Co. Natural oak warms up the kitchen in the floating shelves above the stove, island panels (that hide a bar), and a Parson-style extension table off the island.

To highlight the cabin’s heritage styling, a reclaimed wood barn door tucks away the cabin’s laundry room. In the powder room, a live edge vanity gives the space an organic focal point. To maximize the number of beds, the two guest rooms are outfitted with built-in natural oak bunk beds—one with a trundle bed and the other with additional storage.

North Shore Kitchen

For a couple on the North Shore, we built a modern kitchen with flat panel doors. The space is monochromatic and clean-lined, so we wanted to add some character by installing Whitewashed Oak panels on the front of the island. As always, the kitchen drawers are constructed with dovetail joints and premium domestic birch plywood interiors. Since the dining area is adjacent to the kitchen, the clients wanted a matching built-in sideboard for serving and display.

Brewery Creek Heritage Loft

It's amazing to see the progression of a project from pencil sketch to lived-in. Caroline approached us with a handful of drawings, and more importantly, an idea for what she wanted. We collaborated closely with her on her plans to help give a new look to her space by refitting it with lots of custom woodwork. Originally renovated in the early 90's, the beautiful space needed a facelift while staying true to its industrial roots (as a candy factory!). Check out the beautiful entryway storage unit, custom-paint barn doors, bathroom vanity, 11' kitchen island, and barnwood bedroom feature wall which includes a matching sideboard for storage. That's not all, keep your eyes peeled for other custom-built pieces.

Chinatown Bachelor Pad

There's a certain romance around being involved on a customer's dream home. With this full-scale remodel, the designers at Port & Quarter tasked us with building some great furniture, all the while maximizing the client's space. The custom walnut bed is fitted atop giant solid wood dovetail drawers. The bedside tables built just-so to allow the bed drawers to open without having to tear the room apart. Whitewashed Mantle

What's not to love about wood mantles? A little bit of natural warmth was what this space needed. While working on a project recently with designer Erin Chow (she's awesome!), we were ecstatic to be asked to build this custom mantle from Whitewashed Oak. Mantles can be built in any kind of shape or size—we won't judge!

Comox Street

When the Dynamic Duo behind Oliver Simon Design put their hearts and minds into something, the result is perfection. They take an unique approach to each space while relying on their philosophy, "...the belief that every space should be an extension of the owners personality and style." When we teamed up with Jamie and Greer we knew it was going to be great. For this project we crafted solid walnut shelves, floating shelves and a custom ultra-black version of our Sawyer Table. Doesn't it look so great with those chairs?
